4 Steps to Turn Down the Volume of Haters!
Negativity is only powerful if you let it live in your life. It’s the hater’s duty to make sure that positivity and forward movement does not permeate our lives. Lets take a look at my 4-step process to turning down the volume of Haters.
- Realize that Your Biggest Hater is Yourself
Interestingly enough YOU are your biggest hater. Imagine what you could accomplish if you believed you could do anything. Essentially, you can do anything, but you must silence the little hater inside of you that whispers limitations in your ear. The voice is massive! The voice is persistent and knows your true fears. TELL THAT VOICE TO SETTLE DOWN! Remind yourself of your worth with affirmations and control that inner voice before it prevents you from being YOUR BEST.
- Be One of Your Biggest Cheerleaders
It feels great when others believe in you. However, I’m sure that you know it takes more than faith from others to become YOUR BEST! The mere fact that you are breathing and reading this post means that you have purpose. If you are alive… there is simply more for you to do in this world. It’s your right to be YOUR BEST! With that said, remind yourself of how great you are by the fact that you are still breathing. Affirm yourself by knowing that the world needs you! Cheer yourself through all circumstances and smile at your triumph along your journey.
- Attract More Cheerleaders to Your Circle
Have you ever heard of the law of attraction? The law of attraction is the name given to the belief that “like attracts like” and that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about positive or negative results. When you become your biggest cheerleader you will naturally attract people that have a similar mindset. Believing in yourself coupled with the affirmation from others gives you power.
- Know that External Haters are Meaningless
- Kick Rocks…
- Go watch the wind blow…
- Have several seats…
These are the statements that you should repeat in your mind while external hating is at play. Real forward movement is at work here and there is no need to listen to ill advice from the peanut gallery. You’re a winner, but people are constantly searching for some glimpse of failure to dim your brilliant lamp. Pay them no mind! They are attempting to ignite your inner hater.
Exhibit A: The Lebron Case
Consider Lebron James. Undoubtedly, he is one of the best basketball players of our generation. Some even consider him to be one of the greatest of all time. I won’t jump into the debate of greatness, but at the very least, Lebron is a good basketball player. During game 1 of the Spurs vs. Miami series, Lebron caught a cramp. He left the game in the forth quarter during the final and crucial minutes of the game. Social media went crazy! Some called him weak, wimpy, drew pictures of Lebron with makeup on his face, etc. While at a press conference Lebron was asked whether there was too much pressure for him in game 1. James responded, “Camera’s have been following me since I was 15 years old. I already have 2 championship rings… I think I can handle pressure.” During game 2 Lebron had a rough first half. He continued to push through and ended the game with 35 points and a win at the Spurs home court.
What can we take away from Lebron?
1. James didn’t ignite his inner hater by the commentary from the peanut gallery. (James silenced his inner hater.)
2. As a matter of fact he relied on his own truth to prove to himself that the millions of comments were simply silly thoughts. (Lebron is one of his biggest cheerleaders.)
3. Along with the many people that poked fun at his cramps, he also had people that aided his decision from game 1. (He pulled from the energy of his cheerleaders.)
4. He stated how meaningless the allegations were by stating historical facts and debunking the meaningless external hating. (He knows the external haters are meaningless.)
It must be difficult to turn down the hate volume of the social media world, the news, the papers, articles, and blogs. Nevertheless, it can all be done. Turn up the volume of your inner truth! Take note ladies and gentleman. Maybe you’re not the biggest Lebron fan in the world, but surely you have to respect a man that knows how to turn down the volume of haters.
